PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO FLAME ME FOR THIS.
Usually I'm quite an open-minded person who's up for debate on certain topics, but I must warn you, if you leave a comment on a day where I'm feeling angry/depressed, I WILL take my frustration out on you. In this case, I would appreciate it if you didn't 'rise to my bait' and let me calm down and THEN provide a valid answer.

Alternatively, here are a few answers to questions often left by pro-dubbies. Please read these answers before you try to start a debate with me.

Q. Dubbing doesn't automatically equal censorship...
A. I know that, but what else was I supposed to put? 'Dubs? No thanks, I like my anime undubbed'? Somehow that doesn't have the same ring to it...

Q. You just don't like 4Kids for what they did to Tokyo Mew Mew - don't take it out on other dubbing companies who try to do a good job.
A. True, but I also don't like DiC/Cloverway for what they did to Sailor Moon. What I'm trying to prove is that no matter what company receives the rights to an anime, I still don't receive the same amount of satisfaction I get from watching it with Japanese dialogue. Screams have more of an impact (for example: in Sailor Moon, the first time you hear Hotaru Tomoe's voice is via a scream. In the Japanese version, the scream sent chills down my spine, but in the dubbed version, it sounded like she was having an orgasm...), dialogue is a lot more hard-hitting and, to be quite honest, there are just some things in Japanese that don't translate well. (Another example: something that is considered 'cool' after beating someone up in Japan is spreading your legs over your opponent's body and waving your hand under your leg. Now, imagine how that would look to Western audiences...)

Q. If I live in a particular country, I want to watch a TV show in MY country's language.
A. Close-minded people make me angry - if you have this attitude towards dubs then I think it would be best if you stayed away from me.

Let's consider a scenario where everyone in the world shares this opinion:
+A third world country needs aid badly after a hurricane. They are short of certain supplies and have too many of some. The country's government needs to contact the UN to organise more supplies, but can't. Do you know why? Because nobody can understand their language.
+ The Olympics has started and a foreign man has won gold for his country. Surely this man should be getting widespread applause? No, only his fellow countrymen are clapping - the other audience members are sighing because their country didn't win. How do you think the athlete feels?

These are only two (out of many) possibilities for a world where people only cared about their own country. Please don't be this ignorant.

Q. But I like dubs...
A. Well done, take a cookie and a pair of fluffy mittens.
Saying you like something is NOT a valid argument, it only makes you look stupid.

Q. Just exactly how anti-dub are you?
A. My opinion on dubs isn't, 'I hate dubs they should rot in hell they shouldn't exist blah blah blah', I'm simply 'Meh, the subs are better in a VAST majority of cases', and I hope that some of the people who use this stamp don't have the former opinion.

Most Sailor Moon fans I know know it from their childhood when they watched the dub, so dubs serve as a way of getting people interested in anime, but what I usually see is that same person re-watching it in Japanese years later. However, I don't think dubbed animes play a major part in getting people interested in anime, I think the internet has done that.

If you don't like it, don't watch it!
Trust me, I can't and I don't. The anime broadcast in Ireland is VERY limited, and I don't have access to the channels it is broadcast on.

If you're wondering why I've decided to vent my frustration on dubs, here's why:

Long rant ahead, I'm such a hypocrite!
I've always been against dubs, always have and always will, even if I love an anime to death and I can only find it in English, I'll still refuse to watch it, I hate dubs with a passion! They ruin the point of an anime; for me it's all about enjoying what you watch while you learn a different country's language and culture, but what's the point if Japan is turned into America or wherever and they get rid of any trace that it was made in Japan in the first place? I've been a silent hater of dubs, but something just blew me overboard a few days ago:

For some reason, I love it when people compare anime dubs to subs, I get to laugh at how cheesy it is. Recently, I watched someone compare Tokyo Mew Mew to 'Mew Mew Power' and they compared the transformations, and something just boiled my blood! At the end of Mew Ichigo's (THAT'S RIGHT, ICHIGO, NOT ZOEY! ICHIGO!) transformation, this is what she said:

"Mew mew style, mew mew grace, Mew Mew Power in your face!"

I mean.........WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!? A little kid acting like they're all that! Ichigo's supposed to be funny and cute, much like Usagi from Sailor Moon (NOT Serena, who sounds about 40 in the dub! Stupid DiC!), but instead she's made out to be this utter brat! It just.....makes me so angry!
